Take a Chance With Your Writing in 2020

2020 could be a disaster of a year. We’re starting off with Australia burning, the impeachment trial in the Senate looming, and the Middle East growing even more volatile than usual.

If the world ended, and you had all your best writing still inside you, unwritten, that would be a shame, right?

This may be an extreme way to look at things, but bad habits and needless inhibitions can get a powerful grip. It takes extreme measures to shake them off.

You’re in a writing rut

Somewhere along the way, you hit upon a writing formula. Maybe you got money or praise for writing in a certain way, so you kept on doing it. That can be efficient, but it becomes a problem if you stick with the formula too long, and it starts draining the life from your writing.

Often just realizing you’re in a rut can be enough to get out if it. Just think about what you could do to make your writing feel more fresh. Try small tweaks in your writing process, and see if that works.
